Music that truly takes you somewhere special. The melodies haunt, the harmonies pile layer upon beautiful layer, and the lyrics relate to your fondest memories. Though they are still relatively unknown, don’t be surprised if you hear more and more about this duo in the coming year. Aaron and Steve “Eyes” have crafted a masterpiece in this album! 2. Sufjan Stevens - Age Of ADZ
Stevens surprised everyone with two releases in 2010. This album took on a bolder sound than previous releases. Programmed beats and synths mixed with banjo and choir to make a roller coaster ride for the ears. Stick through it to the end and you won’t regret it.
3.The Decemberists - The Hazards Of Love
Even though they have put out an album since this one, I still find myself going back to Hazards Of Love. The concept album idea is intriguing. I hope they return to this sonic landscape in the future.
4.Bon Iver - For Emma, For Ever Ago
This was an instant classic to countless listeners when it was first heard in 2009. Thank God for that breakup and that cabin.
5. Momford & Sons - Sigh No More
Does huge unlikely success take credibility away from art? I was blown away the first time I put the headphones on and experienced this record. I KNEW it was going to blow up and be big. Nine months later, this record went Platinum and found itself one spot back from being the #1 album on Billboard (being outsold only by Justin Bieber). More people know about it now, but I still consider it a great piece of art.
